The interior architecture retains an open and flexible scale. Large surfaces, broad circulation areas and adaptable exhibition zones make it possible to alter the layout according to each project. Neutral walls, visible technical structures and areas of controlled lighting create a framework capable of receiving very different installations without imposing one aesthetic.
Perception is one of the central themes. Optical illusions, sound variation and changes of balance show that human experience does not reproduce the world directly. The brain interprets signals, completes information and constructs relationships among stimuli. The devices make this process visible through results that change with position, movement and attention.
Vision is explored through colour, contrast, depth and persistence of images. Illuminated surfaces, patterns and projections reveal how similar stimuli can produce different sensations according to context. The eye therefore appears as one part of a system including light, nerves and cerebral processing.
Sound introduces a spatial dimension. Waves, vibration, frequency and resonance become visible movement or audible change. Tubes, membranes, speakers and vibrating surfaces show that sound requires a medium and that its behaviour depends on the form and materials it crosses.
The body functions as both subject and instrument. Balance, coordination, force, breathing and movement make it possible to study biological systems through direct action. Individual responses can vary, showing that organisms share general structures without producing identical results.
Energy and matter are presented through transformation. Mechanisms, pulleys, magnets, circuits and movement reveal transfer, storage and loss. The devices make visible processes that in everyday life are usually hidden inside machines and electrical systems.
Physics is connected with familiar experience. A falling object, a rotating surface or a travelling wave becomes a starting point for understanding broader laws. The centre avoids separating theory from experience: every concept grows from a phenomenon that can be observed or measured.
Biology introduces scales ranging from cells and tissues to organisms and ecosystems. Images, models and digital resources allow structures invisible to the naked eye to be compared. The information is organised around relationships among form, function and adaptation.
Astronomy extends the route toward dimensions difficult to imagine. Projections, images and diagrams connect planets, stars, galaxies and cosmic time. Scale is expressed through visual comparisons that turn abstract distances and ages into more legible sequences.
Argentine research forms part of the narrative. Institutions, projects and specialists appear in relation to physics, biology, astronomy and technology. This presence presents science as a contemporary activity carried out by working communities rather than as a series of isolated discoveries from the past.
Temporary exhibitions allow emerging subjects to enter the building. Climate change, artificial intelligence, health, space exploration and new materials can occupy the galleries through combinations of data, objects and experience. Flexibility prevents the centre from retaining exactly the same content over time.
The current complex also includes the open-air Science Park, which extends scientific interpretation beyond the enclosed galleries. Outdoor installations change the relationship between experiment, weather and public space and add a second environmental scale to the institution.
The Biblioteca Encendida adds books, magazines and science communication to the experimental displays. Reading, talks, games and presentations create a quieter setting where scientific ideas can be explored through text and discussion as well as through physical manipulation.
Auditoriums, workshops and meeting spaces broaden the function of the institution. Talks, demonstrations and public programmes connect the galleries with science communication. The architecture then becomes a place of dialogue among researchers, artists, educators and the public.
Lighting changes the atmosphere of every sector. Some installations require darkness to emphasise projections or luminous phenomena; others use even light for observing mechanisms and materials. This alternation creates a spatial sequence that changes in intensity and concentration.
The Cultural Centre of Science is defined by the union of participation, research and flexible architecture. Experiments, images, mechanisms, sounds, outdoor installations and bodies form an inseparable whole.
